I am interested in finding a nanny position how do I get into Rhode Island Temp Nanny/ Sitter’s Database?

First you must be over 18 years of age, and have childcare experience. Then you must Submit a Nanny Application. We will call you and arrange interview. At the time of your interview you must bring at least 3 written references (2 must be childcare related) including contact information, you may Download our Reference Form. You also must bring your Valid Drivers License, Social Security Card, CPR/ First Aid Card if applicable, along with a photo copy of them all for our records (can be on 1 page). If we decide that you are Brookside Nanny Material you will be entered into either our Nanny or Sitter Database or both. If you want to listed as a Last Minute Sitter there a $60 yearly to cover the cost of a yearly background check.

Why is there a fee to be listed as a Last Minute Sitter?

Due to the nature of a Last Minute Sitter we run background checks on all the candidates in that database. The fee helps cover the cost of running a background check. You usually make that fee back with in the first couple of times you sit. When you are hire by a family looking for a Last Minute Sitter there is usually not time for a thorough interview process & screening with the family. The ready available background check, references and comment/rating section of your bio makes the family more secure in hiring you. It would not be cost effective for us to run background checks on everybody in our Last Minute Sitter Database without our charging a fee. Also it weeds out the serious Last Minute Sitters from the ones who do not take this profession seriously.

Must I be CPR certified?

It is not one of our requirements but it is a plus. You can locate class through the Red Cross or inquire about a class through an instructor we recommend, he/she will even come to your home for a group of 4 or more.

I have never been a Nanny but I have childcare experience should I submit an application?

Yes. We consider the following as childcare experience:

No. We require at least 3 references and 2 must be childcare related.

No. Who you work for is all up to you. We do ask that you reply to all inquiries, either accepting or declining. See our Professionalism Tips.
